Instructions
Preparation
Season the steak with a sprinkle of salt and pepper on both sides.
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the seasoned steak for about 4-6 minutes per side until it reaches the desired doneness.
Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes.
In the same skillet, add sliced onions and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until caramelized and golden, about 10 minutes.
Slice the rested steak into thin strips.
Butter one side of the baguette slices and toast them in the skillet until golden brown.
Assembly
Start with a toasted baguette slice, add a layer of sliced steak, followed by caramelized onions, and top with a slice of havarti cheese.
Optionally, place the assembled sandwich back in the skillet for a minute to melt the cheese slightly.
Serving
Serve the steak sandwich warm and enjoy each bite.
Notes
For leftovers, store steak and onions separately in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Store baguette in a paper bag to prevent it from getting hard.
